Garden Weddings at Dissington Hall

First Outdoor Marriage in Northumberland at Dissington

At 2pm on Friday the 20th June Caroline Todd and James Rouse became the first couple in Northumberland to be married at an outdoor ceremony. The event has taken a lot of careful planning between the registrars, the couple and Dissington Hall; it was kept a secret until the last minute. The south terrace made an ideal setting with views over the parkland and a gazebo outside the aptly named Garden room.

“We were delighted to wake up to a sunny morning but the weather was changeable all day and it wasn’t until the very last minute that the decision was made to go ahead”. Explained David Burnett Events Manager at Dissington Hall.

Lorraine Dewison Registration Services Manager for Northumberland was in attendance, she explained “the legal part of the ceremony must still take place in an approved room but event itself can be outside. We have worked closely with Dissington Hall to produce guidelines to make sure outdoor ceremonies can be run successfully. The Registration Service is excited about delivering these ceremonies this is the very first of this type of wedding in Northumberland and we are looking forward to many more!” said Lorraine.
